From Monday, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will increase the surcharge on routes from the Chinese mainland to the United States by 100 yuan ($15.77) from the original 1,000 yuan, and that for return routes from the United States will be lifted to $175 from the previous $160.
Meanwhile, Air China, the country's flag carrier, will raise the surcharge for tickets sold in Taiwan by 10 yuan to 175 yuan.
